Military Families Speak Out is calling on Congress to end funding for the war in Iraq, save what is needed to bring our troops home quickly and safely, and to fully fund care for our troops when they return. Over 3,000 US troops and hundreds of thousands of Iraqi children, women and men have already died as a result of this war. Funding the war is not supporting our troops. The way to support our troops is to bring them home now and take care of them when they get here. Phoenix couple belong to the nationwide organization Military Families Speak Out

The tattoo of a parachute and the word "Paratrooper" on Phoenix resident Brian Lewis' left forearm lets fellow veterans know he has been there, done that. And the former member of the Army's 82nd Airborne Division isn't saluting Army Gen. David Petraeus' long awaited report this week on the war being waged in Iraq.

Funding the war means killing our troops and harming our communities. Military Families Speak Out calls on Congress to vote in September against the Supplemental Allocation for Iraq. We do not want timetables. We want Congress to vote to de-fund the war, to bring all of the troops home now, to take care of them when they get here, to redirect the monies for our communities.

As Budget Deal Approaches, Families of Servicemen and Women Voice Disapproval of “Spineless” Congress

Just before Congress recesses for the year, and days before funding for the federal government is set to run out, Congress is on the verge of making a deal that will involve funding a limited number of domestic issues in exchange for the inclusion of funds President Bush has been seeking to continue the war in Iraq.
Members of Military Families Speak Out (MFSO) are outraged with those in Congress who profess to be against the war in Iraq, yet help broker and support a budget deal that continues to fund it.

Yesterday was the meeting of the “Military Families Speak Out” support group I attend once a month. There were weren't many of us this month--just 5 parents, three with sons in the Army and two with sons in the Marines, sitting around a table in a church fellowship hall.
