Support Our Troops: De-Fund the War
Military Families Speak Out is calling on Congress to end funding for the war in Iraq, save what is needed to bring our troops home quickly and safely, and to fully fund care for our troops when they return. Over 3,000 US troops and hundreds of thousands of Iraqi children, women and men have already died as a result of this war. Funding the war is not supporting our troops. The way to support our troops is to bring them home now and take care of them when they get here. Military families dispute claims of ‘progress’ in Iraq
by Ashahed M. Muhammad, The Final Call
November 29th, 2007
“The Bush Administration continues to use lies and fear to get Congress to continue to fund the war. But the numbers do not lie,” said Nancy Lessin a co-founder of Military Families Speak Out (MFSO. “2007 has been the deadliest year for American troops thus far, and the vast majority of the American people and the troops themselves do not support this war. Congress has failed the troops and all of us by continuing to fund the war,” she added.
We Want Them to Come Home
by MFSO Member Susan Sutherland-Martin, Portland Oregon Family Newspaper
Yesterday was the meeting of the “Military Families Speak Out” support group I attend once a month. There were weren't many of us this month--just 5 parents, three with sons in the Army and two with sons in the Marines, sitting around a table in a church fellowship hall. We started out talking about Senator Wyden’s recent Town Hall Meeting.
War IS a Women's Issue, Senator Clinton
by Stacy Bannerman, Common Dreams
I spoke with Senator Clinton back in 2006, when I spent almost three months spearheading Operation House Call, a daily vigil in the summer sauna of Capitol Hill, with a growing number of combat boots representing what Congress's decision to "stay the course" in Iraq was costing our troops.
